What, Where and Why?

I’ve never cared much for the profile page and prefer to let my work speak for itself (and for me). But I do think that this is a good spot to offer an overview of how this site was born and grew up.

When I first launched Tales and Visions back in 2002, I just wanted a place that would allow me to share my writing (fiction and essays) and photography with a larger audience. While I was still pursuing traditional publishing avenues at that time (and would continue to do so for many more years), I eventually tired of a process that takes months to come to fruition. I think the longest delay I experienced was one year (from first submission to publishing date) for one of my articles.

Reluctantly in 2007, I began blogging by submitting travelogues through the now-defunct Traveler’s Pen website, which led to the development of Traveling Gay in the Big Straight World and the launch of that as my own blog in 2008. Once I had the idea for This Art is Corked! in 2011, I decided that I wanted all my work in one consolidated site and reformatted Tales and Visions to accommodate everything. And now, here we are.

If you want to know anything else, just ask.
